A Homey Eco Resort & Rehabilitation Village

Facilities

The Next Step has all the benefits of being close to the culture-rich city centre, but tucked in with the more authentic, nature-filled Thai village life. Close to the Royal Park Rajupruek, The Village is a Lanna-style resort in the district of Nong Kwai, with a relaxed, homely feel.

The Village comprises 12 individual chalet-style, ensuite, double-bedrooms, each with its own individual decking and veranda.

It has a relaxing swimming pool, large yoga and meditation space, gym, games room, martial arts area, therapy rooms, art space and ample indoor and outdoor communal dining and meeting areas. Our key facilities and clinical staff members are available 24 hours daily.

Private Bedrooms

The village offers two different styles of accommodation. You may wish to opt for a modern, boutique room in a comfortable, sociable setting or we also have a selection of spacious, traditional Lanna style cabins, which you have greater scope to individualise.

These are nestled beautifully around the pool and leafy garden areas and our clients enjoy the choice of relaxing in their own decking environment, or socialising in the communal areas just a few footsteps away.

Each room is complete with the following amenities:

  • King Size Bed
  • Ensuite Bathroom
  • Air Conditioning
  • Spacious Deck Area
  • Flat Screen TV
  • Cable TV Channels
  • WIFI Broadband
  • Refrigerator
  • Room Cleaning Service
  • Laundry Service

The facility as a whole has been designed to make your stay comforting and relaxing.

Features include:

Chan Bon (means Upper Area) and Chan Laang (Lower Area)

The Village has an impressive and spacious central facility known as The Chan. This two-tiered communal building houses three large spaces for program activities, including:

Open main deck area for:
o Group meetings
o Social events (wet weather option)
o Village breakfasts
o Strength, Hope & Experience exhibition area
o Living Community Project area
o Area for darts, card and board games. A communal plasma screen and soft-seating is also housed here and larger sporting events and movie nights are screened here for group enjoyment, probably with a bit of theming!

Upstairs Ballroom for classes in exercise, yoga, dance or meditation.
Large games room equipped with snooker table and table tennis table.

Kitchen

Many of our residents choose to eat out in one of the vast array of restaurants and cafés in Chiang Mai, because it is both good and cheap! However, some people have a big passion for cooking and we try to encourage residents to take part in our culinary ‘Cordon Verve’ workshops, as well as doing tasting sessions at The Village as part of the Community Living Project.

Buy your own fresh ingredients from one of the lovely local markets and cook your own meals in our fully-equipped, air-conditioned Western kitchen. All the basics for standard meals are available for you to use, and there is ample storage, refrigeration and freezer space.

Alternatively we have our own private chef who will come to prepare and cook for you, and your friends.

BBQ

We have an extensive outdoor covered area for outdoor eating, so come and join us for one of our regular BBQ nights, or feel free to use our Outback Select Hooded 3 Burner Gas BBQ for cooking your own dinners. The local markets sell a wide range of meats, fish, fruit and vegetables.

Swimming Pool

Swim or rest by our partially-shaded outdoor pool, which has the benefits of both sun-splashed and shaded areas. There is ample room and seating for lounging around the pool to sunbathe, read or socialise. Once a month, we invite friends and family for a group evening barbecue with music by the pool.

Gymnasium

Our spacious, self-contained gym is kitted out with basic workout and weights equipment, and we have the luxury of Sansaran ‘supergym’ complete with tennis courts, a saltwater pool and a wide range of fitness classes just 5 minutes away!  The Village is also in the perfect location for outdoor activities, nestled close to hill and waterfall treks and with beautiful cycle routes on the doorstep. If you have more intensive or specific exercise program requirements, we will find the right personal trainer for your needs.

The nearby Sansaran Health Club is a wonderful extension of our facilities. As well as its large, high-tech gym, attractive rooftop saltwater swimming pool and well-maintained under-cover tennis courts, it has a vast program of classes for all tastes. From Les Mills workouts, to twice-daily yoga, hip-hop dance, zumba and pole dancing lessons, we make subscription to Sansaran a part of our package, because we haven’t yet met a client who doesn’t benefit from its facilities.

Games Room (in The Chan Laang)

Our spacious games area comprises a beautiful conditioned snooker table, table tennis table, darts and boules area. Residents can enjoy any one of these, either with friends, staff and other villagers, or we can provide specialist coaching should you wish to take your skills up a notch more.

Ballroom (in The Chan Bon) / Meditation / Movement & Dance Area

This versatile 2nd floor space is regularly used for wellness classes of all sorts, ranging from yoga, pilates, stretching and mindfulness meditation. One thing we are not is traditional or boring…if you’ve heard of something new that seems to be helping people in their recovery programs, we will see what we can do!

Martial Arts Area

Martial arts are a regular part of our program at The Next Step and we have a resident Shaolin Kung Fu specialist who himself trains daily in our covered workout space. Shaolin combines Zen with martial arts. Many other martial arts are popular with our residents and we love the the mindful practice of Tai Chi.

Creative Arts Space

We regularly use the gardens and local places of interest to provide inspiration for our creative workshops and therapy sessions. However, we have a light and airy creative arts studio, together with a wide range of materials for drawing, painting, ceramics, jewellery-making and we run additional ‘one-off’ workshops on many traditional local crafts, such as paper flower making and soap carving. We also run facilitated mural art therapy, which we practice on ‘art’ walls in our community.

We also have a beautiful arts and crafts centre in the next village, where we can take clients for half or full days to try their hand at wood carving, ceramics and pottery, watercolours, photography and many other local artisan trades. Local food, cakes and coffee shops are also really chilled hangouts near The Village.
