Lead a Life of Sobriety with Our Sober Retreat

Our Lanna-style village is a spacious, comfortable, and affordable Sober Living environment. With the help of our wonderful Thai house staff, our clients come to feel perfectly at home here.

The Sober Living program framework is specifically designed for addicts who know the tools to use in recovery, but wish to work their recovery in a supported place with common-minded people, and want to take their next step towards helping others through commitment to service positions.

The number of residents at The Next Step is purposely limited to 12. This way we can provide more attentive support at a time when an addict may feel both vulnerable and anxious. Old addictive behaviours are more identifiable and quickly addressed. New recovery-based behaviours can then be promptly implemented. But we are also selective about who comes to The Next Step, because we are very serious about recovery. So your commitment to your own recovery is the main part of the deal.

Everyone’s road to recovery is different, and our clients come from quite diverse socio-economic backgrounds. We help many to follow a 12 Step and Fellowship path of AA and NA, others seek a purely spiritual or wellness program, while integrating a combination of complementary recovery-based activities. We are also blessed at The Village to have our own resident monk, who contributes generously of his time and wisdom. But there is no one way of doing things. With our extensive network and knowledge of the area, The Next Step team listens, and then makes the experiences happen. We also like to surprise you occasionally!

We live in an organically-evolving environment, so we encourage everyone to bring something to the community through their individual passions and creativity. Some share their skills in photography, sports or martial arts, while others offer expertise in mindfulness and meditation, music or culinary workshops. Those who reside with us for longer periods take a greater part in the development of The Village, and our Living Community Project becomes a larger part of their program.

What every villager has in common is their desire for recovery, to be part of our community, to reconnect with the world, to be supported and to give support. Sober Living at The Next Step is a healthy recovery stepping stone. If you want recovery enough, we will support you whole-heartedly to bridge the gap for your next step.

Sober Living in recovery brings new friendships, open roads and lots of choice.

  • For most treatment centers the “missing link” is what happens after primary care. At The Next Step I have seen first hand not just what happens, but the ongoing results of what they provide.

  • TNS has given me the opportunity to understand why I relapse and to plan for purpose & meaning in life. Without that purpose, I will be forever relapsing.

  • Whatever challenges life throws at me, I will be able to face them head on because I know that I have the care and support from the guys at The Next Step.
